This elephant is hand carved in northern Thailand, in an Amphur called Lamphun, and comes in various sizes. The village factory has many skilled wood carvers, including members of Keson’s family. As such, we can guarantee the quality and ethical nature of these carvings. The wood used is known as monkey wood and comes from sustainable sources. The intricately carved faces, extended trunks and contoured ears are all indicative of the artisan's expertise. This wonderful piece is hand-carved of wood and has a fine, rich finish. The elephant is an Asian elephant, as can be seen by its pointed ears. Northern Thailand is one of the few locales in the world where Asian elephants still roam free. The handcrafted nature of this item will produce minor differences in design, color and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to the unique quality of individual creations. Measurements may vary slightly.
